We have fed 1192 Adults and Children in 2012-13 - an increase of 50% over the previous year. Since Jan 1st this year we have seen a 98% increase over the same period last year. We are also seeing an increase in the numbers of those coming to us because of debt or low income related issues.
We anticipate this demand increasing over the coming months post the April 1st welfare benefit changes. We are already seeing an increase in numbers coming from Job Centre Plus. Previously some of these would have been helped by DWP with crisis loans.

We are closed on Easter Monday

A small team of volunteers [see photo] from different churches organised by John Warr [see photo] collected 272kgs [see photo] of food and £123.59 from generous shoppers at Waitrose in Worcester Park recently - many thanks to volunteers and customers of Waitrose and of course Waitrose for providing the opportunity

Support Scheme Training - Volunteers trained tonight to help with clients of the Foodbank who need short-term support in achieving goals and getting through difficulties

During the month of December shoppers were asked to allocate a green token to vote for where Waitrose should invest their Charity Contribution spread across three local charities. At a special presentation with the Store Manager and Paul Burstow we were given a kind and generous donation to the Foodbank.

Last Saturday we collected £161.25 from generous customers at Sainsbury's in North Cheam. G4S have just given a generous donation from staff instead of sending Christmas Cards/

Thanks so much to the customers of Tesco who donated over 800Kgs of Food last Saturday and Sunday and to Tesco who were very hospitable and helpful and also will add 30% extra to this donation. See you tube clip promoting the cause

Today Sutton Foodbank has been operational for three years and we have fed over 2000 needy Sutton residents and have over 90 referring partners. To cope with future anticipated growth of at least 50% next year we need more volunteers.

We collected 500Kgs of Food from Tesco's to which they will add 20% extra. We also collected 75Kgs with the Challenge Network from Asda in Sutton. We received an additional £150 in donations.

Every Friday we are running in partnership with In Touch a service user led cafe. This is a small social enterprise cafe providing one meal free and subsequent meals at discounted prices. It is great to see the volunteers getting so involved and growing through the experience.

Foodbank Celebration at St.Paul's Howell Hill - 24th May 2012
Great evening celebrating the tremendous work of our volunteers. Great to have Sean Brennan the new Mayor of Sutton and also Paul Burstow our MP and Minister for Care Services attending.
We also heard from a number of our volunteers and were well hosted by St.Paul's Church and particularly their youth group and Dee Brodie and Elaine Oliver overseeing some of the practicalities of catering.

We have been operating a Friday cafe in partnership with In Touch Housing. The aim is to give clients one free meal and a cheaper healthy option on further Fridays.

We have recently been awarded a small amount of funding from Thames Community Foundation to cover some storage costs for the next year and a contribution towards ongoing management of the project over next 6 months

We are currently seeking volunteers to help with our meet and greeting of clients on Monday and Friday 12-2 and Wednesday 6.30-8pm. Celebrate Sutton is designed to celebrate what the Church is doing in Sutton. Although the turnout was less than usual there was a generous offering of £333 taken for the Sutton Foodbank.

Sutton Foodbank is now officially part of Sutton Community Works which is a new Charity set up to oversee community projects in Sutton and birth new ones.

So far we have helped 368 Adults and 237 Children from our centres at Sutton Salvation Army and Apple Lodge. Clients are referred from a total of 45 partners ranging from social services, probation, citizens advice to childrens centres and schools

We have now given food to 280 Adults and 180 Children. The main reason for emergency crisis has been benefit delay/cuts in 40% of our clients.

Our Supermarket Collection at Tesco's brought in over a tonne of food - thanks so much for all who volunteered on the day, the storage team who have weighed and sorted it and for all those generous shoppers.

We have moved from Hallmead to Farm Road Building in Farm Road, St.Helier which will act as our ongoing storage centre.

We recently received £1,000 (and also food) from Greenshaw High School Mufti day. We have also been able to do a number of lessons to year 7 pupils on the Foodbank as an example of a Christian Charity as part of their RE curriculum.
Sutton foodbank gives free emergency food to people in crisis. We continue to provide help and support until the appropriate agencies can step in.
